How do I change the letter template?

Right Click on either the Letter or Fax icon and select from any of the available templates.

How do I tell which contact is currently selected?

In Notes view, the visible contact is 'selected'. In Contacts view the contact highlighted with the yellow band is selected.

Can I create my own template?

You can create your own template. The easiest means of achieving this is to base the new template you wish to create on an existing template. To create a new letter template, select Tools... Edit Templates - from the menu. Select letter.dot in the drop down and click the Edit button.
Make any required changes to the template.
Now select File... Save As in Word and save the template with another name. For example, mytest.
Once saved, this new template will appear in the list of templates.

Will your telephony features work with my telephone system?

If what is known as a TAPI driver is available, then yes, at least some of the telephony features should work. We have tested against the following specific telephone systems:

To benefit from screen popping, it is necessary to enable caller line presentation. This is generally enabled via your telephone network provider. This item is often referred to as CLIP or caller line identification presentation. In most countries the cost is something like $10 per quarter.

My telephone system requires I dial 9 to obtain an outside line. How does Itel Office deal with this?

Many telephone systems require the user to prefix external numbers with a number, usually 9, to signify that you wish to dial an outside line. To make Itel Office aware of this requirement, it is necessary to enter the dial prefix in your computers telephony properties section. On Windows XP you can click on Start button, then Control Panel. Then double click on the Phone and Modem Options icon. Click on the Dialing Rules tab and click on the Edit button. In the fields 'To access an outside line...' enter the prefix number. You need to enter the number in both the local calls and long distance calls field. Click OK and OK again to commit the change. Itel Office ignores this prefix if the telephone number is 5 digits or less in length - this is to cater for dialing extension numbers.

I do not see the Itel Office icon in Word. How can I fix this?

If you have Word 2002 or Word 2003, you need to follow these steps to be able to see and use this icon:
1. Copy the AddressBook.dot file in c:\program files\Microsoft Office\Office\Startup directory to c:\program files\Microsoft Office10\Office\Startup if you are using Word 2002 or c:\program files\Microsoft Office\Office11\Startup if you are using Word 2003. If you are unsure you can find your Word version by clicking on Help... About Microsoft Office Word menu.
2. Select Tools... Options menu. Click on Security tab. Click on Macro Security button.Under the Security Level tab select Low radio button. Click OK, then OK again. Close Word and restart. The Itel icon should now be displayed.

I want to do an email merge but don't want each recipient to see that I have sent the email to lots of other people.

Create a group email but when you send the email either select File... Send Message... Send Individual or click on the little down arrow to the right of the Send button and select Send Indivual.
